Read full bio →W. Cyrus Garrett is the CEO and Head of Product Marketing at AthletEQ Institute, which he co-founded alongside college teammate Dr. Matthew Sinclair. A former U.S. Army High School All-American and Big Ten athlete, Cyrus brings a wealth of strategic leadership from the public, private, and political sectors.
An alumnus of the Obama White House and campaigns, his public service includes roles with the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Education, and NYC Hall. In the private sector, he drives digital marketing initiatives and technical adoption as CTO for Hued Strategies. Featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Hill, Axios, Politico, and The Washington Post, Cyrus is a Carnegie Hall Trustee, a Bosch Fellow, and an Army War College National Security Seminar alumnus. He holds a degree from the University of Northern Iowa and is an MBA candidate at Syracuse University.

A former team captain and All-Big Ten linebacker at the University of Illinois, he played five professional seasons in the NFL and NFL Europe with the Ravens, Dolphins, and Commanders. Following his playing career, Matthew spent over a decade in financial services and elite football coaching, helping lead teams to consecutive state championships. Today, he leverages his PhD in Performance Psychology to speak nationwide on leadership, resilience, and the science of elite execution.
